Work is Underway on the Previously Vacant Hoopes House!

As part of a larger effort through the Reimagine Project for The Hyde Collection, TRW was retained to provide an updated physical assessment and design development drawings for the renovation/adaptive reuse of the long-vacant Hoopes House in Glens Falls.

We provided updated analysis of the physical structure, followed by assessment of programming and planning needs, which informed the design development documents which were completed in January 2024.

Founded by Louis and Charlotte Hyde, The Hyde Collection contains historic furniture, books, and works of art collected beginning in the early twentieth century through today. Last expanded in 1989 with a modern gallery wing by Edward Larrabee Barnes and further addition to it in the 1990s, TRW has also focused on designing repairs and improvements to the connected spaces of Hyde House, Barnes Wing, and Cunningham House.

The addition of Hoopes House spaces for expanded program use will ease the challenge of intermingling building systems designed for art conservation with that of human occupancy. This will greatly improve and expand community outreach programs while bringing new life to this building, which is a federally designated National Register property.

Restoration of the exterior and renovation of the interior is anticipated to begin in 2025.
